Who is OMS?

Optical Metrology Services Ltd (OMS) is a specialist technology company that supplies pipe measurement products and services to the global oil and gas industry.

In onshore and offshore oil and gas installations, the accurate dimensional measurement of pipes is critical to the pipe manufacturing, welding and construction processes. OMS offers a comprehensive, innovative range of internal and external dimensional measurement tools and services that help oil and gas companies reduce their pipe welding, fit-up and laying costs, helping to minimise project risk and delays.

OMS is involved in oil and gas projects all around the world, including North and South America, the Far East, Europe and Africa.

OMS has developed a full suite of measurement technologies and services for clients to choose from. Frequent meetings with customers ensure that these tools and techniques are updated on a continuous basis, based on the latest pipe designs and welding methods. OMS regularly seeks feedback from its clients to ensure that it continuously improves its processes.

When customers request a new technology from OMS, the company has a well-rehearsed procedure that it follows, from concept and engineering design through to manufacture and testing of the final product. When required, integrated software and electronic hardware is also provided. In-house design and manufacturing enables OMS to be responsive to its clients' need by providing unique, advanced technologies and bespoke solutions. OMS’ engineering division manufactures all of its service tools and products, providing precision engineering services locally to the client if required.

As well as the oil and gas sector, OMS works closely with other industry sectors where accurate dimensional measurement of pipes or similar structures is critical, including nuclear, aerospace and defence, utilities, pipe mills, process industry tubes, academic institutions, legal, pharmaceuticals and other manufactured cylindrical objects.
