We found that our crawler system were increasingly being used for complex tasks.
To complement the crawlers systems we developed a modular control electronics that enables the integration of many different devices into one control system with a robust human interface for use in the field.
A high level user interface was created that was flexible enough to act as the starting point for many applications. Specific drivers were written for each of the elements to be controlled and then a robust communications architecture was chosen to allow all of the elements to be controlled simultaneously. Finally each actuator or sensor has a dedicated modular hardware that allows the number and type of device to be changed or adapted as required.
