  • Accurate, calibrated measurements

Early identification of problems

OMS provides inspection systems that help clients in the energy industry detect and identify corrosion problems within pipes.

Corrosion is one of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry. Pipelines in the energy industry carry inherently corrosive materials at high velocity, pressure and temperature through harsh conditions where they are subject to seawater and extreme weather externally. Corrosion causes metal to lose strength and impermeability, which can result in eventual – or sometimes sudden – pipeline failure. Estimated to be responsible for around 25% of all pipeline failures, identifying corrosion defects effectively is a vital part of pipeline management.

360° camera and laser inspection

Our long-distance robotic crawlers are capable of travelling to some of the hardest to reach locations, where they combine the latest lasers with ultra HD cameras. Once in position the system rotates through 360° to collect data to build up a 3D map. Sophisticated software analyses the resulting data to deliver a comprehensive picture of a pipe’s internal condition, including cylindrical stitching, which allows clients to make effective decisions and take preventative action if necessary.

Fast, accurate, robust tools

OMS tools are fast and accurate, scanning pipe interiors rapidly. They are versatile and flexible, effective on bends or straight sections of pipe and capable of travelling long distances through complex pipe systems. Our robust tools have been built specifically for operation within the harsh environments of energy production and are tested to withstand conditions in the oil and gas, renewable energy and nuclear industries.
