New ways of working - Covid-19 update

Following an unusual six months life at OMS has returned to some kind of normality – with a few changes.

Adapting to new circumstances

OMS handled lockdown with our usual flexible approach, adapting to different circumstances quickly and adopting new methods of work. We remained fully operational throughout with as many people as possible working from home, but since our engineers can’t work from home we implemented strict social distancing policies in the office to keep everyone safe. Now the rules have relaxed more staff members are coming in and the office is busier again – still with strict social distancing, of course.

Successful remote working

Our team has been busy working on projects since lockdown began, but with new operating methods in place. We have increased our capacity for remote working considerably and are able to hold meetings, carry out training and even deploy robots from our HQ in the UK. For example, we were scheduled to attend a project to survey underground pipe in Iceland just as Europe went into lockdown. We sent our equipment via courier, arranged remote training for the operators in Iceland, set up a system that allowed us to monitor our crawler’s progress underground and completed the project successfully from the UK.

Flexible and innovative

OMS has an innovative and flexible approach that means we have been able to adapt to changing circumstances quickly. In coronavirus times we go out of our way to make sure our staff and customers are safe, and our projects are completed successfully, while adhering to new regulations.
