Alex Felce, technical reporting manager at Optical Metrology Services Ltd, recently took part in the Amsterdam marathon and crossed the finishing line in a time of 2 hours, 58 minutes and 20 seconds, finishing 394th out of a starting field of 11,435. Alex, 31, a former schoolboy cross country running champion, only recently returned to running, making this an even more remarkable achievement. Across the 26.2 mile distance, Alex averaged a pace of 4 minutes and 14 seconds per kilometre and an average speed of 14.2 kilometres per hour, despite slowing towards the end. Asked whether he would run another marathon, Alex exclaimed: “absolutely, I loved the Amsterdam course and running it, but perhaps less so during the final 10k”.
Well done to Alex!
