OMS Linear Actuators

Due to variance in pipe length OMS linear actuators are used mainly to position our AUGA weld inspection technology into position as pipeline is laid from a lay vessel or barge. Developed by the OMS R&D team in response to evolving knowledge of energy industry challenges and customer needs, our linear actuators enable clients to access welds more easily in harsh offshore environments and make rapid go/no go decisions in time-critical situations. They are robust, reliable pieces of equipment that have been field tested and successfully deployed on major oil and gas projects all over the world.

Key features

  • Powerful OMS inspection technology locates the weld easily

  • 1m (and 300mm) length is ideal for handling significant variance in pipe length

  • WeldAnalysis and M3 collection software provide comprehensive information and data visualisation

  • Supports other NDT technology such as radiographic testing

  • Robust, reliable, thoroughly tested technology

  • Portable and easy to operate

How it works

The OMS linear actuator is bolted/attached on to the internal line-up clamp (ILUC). Once pipes have been clamped and welded together, the linear actuator moves our AUGA weld inspection systems into position, where an ultra HD camera system locates the weld and begins scanning using our latest laser technology. Visual and laser data is sent back to our software interface which provides comprehensive analysis of the weld, enabling a rapid go/no go decision. Features such as concavity, Hilo, root penetration can be detected and analysed through this software.
