OMS completes measurement project in Qatar

OMS recently completed a project to measure a quantity of 8” pre-qualified pipe at our client’s coating yard in Qatar. The end client required that end measurements must be carried out prior to lifting the pipes and again following completion of the coating process. In addition, measurement records and related inspection reports had to be submitted to the end client prior for approval, before production activities could proceed. This gave our client the validation they needed to confirm that the pipe hadn't changed shape and the confidence to install the pipeline with less risk.

Middle East Regional Head, Marcus Smiles, said, ‘The OMS team were deployed to our client’s yard, where they used the Autotool laser end measurement device to take internal diameter measurements at depths of 10mm and 100mm. We provided the data, including some radial data, the our client needed to supply to their end client for approval so that production could get underway as efficiently as possible.’
