Pipe ID Measurements and 3D Mapping

Key details

  • Pipe data acquisition is via the use of a stripe or point laser

  • Either single scans analyzed or multiple scans collected and stitched together using OMS’s proprietary in-house point cloud software

  • Camera images are also typically collected simultaneously for separate analysis and overlay of RGB colour onto the point cloud (if required)

  • From 6” to 48” pipe size

  • Features can be analysed in greater detail (size, depth, location)

Applications include:

  • Pipe corrosion mapping from the ID (i.e. estimation of pipe wall thickness loss from the ID) in hard to reach locations

  • Pipe reeling trials: measurement of pipe ovality or wrinkling of liner material along pipe length

  • High-accuracy full pipe length dimensional analysis for critical pipe sections

  • Conventional internal root pass weld scanning
