OMS completes successful measurement and reeling trial projects

OMS has recently completed a laser measurement project in Qatar and a reeling trial project in Indonesia.

In Qatar we measured a quantity of 8” pre-qualified pipe at our client’s coating yard. The end client required that end measurements must be carried out prior to lifting the pipes and again following completion of the coating process. In addition, measurement records and related inspection reports had to be submitted to the end client prior for approval, before production activities could proceed. This gave our client the validation they needed to confirm that the pipe hadn't changed shape and the confidence to install the pipeline with less risk. Read more.

In Indonesia OMS recently carried out laser mapping and visual inspection of mechanically lined 261mm pipes before and after a full-scale reeling simulation. The project took place at our client’s facility in Batam, Indonesia and included inspection and measurement of six off strings before and after reeling, plus inspection and measurement of one string at the intermediate stage.
